World Scout Foundation Board meets in Luxembourg

World Scout Foundation Board meets in Luxembourg

The World Scout Foundation Board convened at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg on Saturday, 10 October 2026, for a landmark 82nd Board Meeting.

Chaired by Beat Wenger, the meeting marked a new chapter as the first since HRH the Grand Duke of Luxembourg assumed the role of Honorary Chair of the Foundation in May 2026, succeeding HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Honorary Founder of the World Scout Foundation. HRH the Grand Duke has a longstanding connection with the Foundation, having joined the Board in 2017 and having served as its Chair from 2021 to 2023.

The Board received with great appreciation the biannual report of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, including on the use of the annual operational grant, shared in advance, as well as an update on Messengers of Peace, World Scouting's global initiative that inspires young people to take action for peace in their communities. The Board expressed its gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association for its ongoing operational coordination with the Foundation and World Scouting on Messengers of Peace, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its generous long-term support of the initiative.

The Board also took a series of important decisions, including approval of the Organisational Regulations for the Foundation; approval of the 2027 operational budget; and unanimous endorsement of a direction and process for joint collaboration between the World Organization of the Scout Movement and the Foundation on fundraising for World Scouting. Together, these decisions strengthen the Foundation's governance and set a shared path to mobilise more resources for the Movement.

The weekend began on Friday evening, 9 October, with a World Scout Foundation Dinner at Berg Castle, bringing together Board Members and Members of the Honours Programme to build on their shared, deep commitment to World Scouting. During this special evening, our Honorary Chair and Chair warmly recognised 16 Honours Programme Members (individuals and couples) who were joining or progressing through the Honours Programme's circles.

On Saturday, 10 October, BP Fellows explored the Luxembourg Casemates, the historic underground fortifications beneath the city, before lunch. An informal and warm gathering of Board Members, Luxembourgish and international BP Fellows, and representatives of World Scouting and of Scouting in Luxembourg took place that evening, and we were delighted to be joined by our Honorary Chair. During the evening, three Young BP Fellows and four BP Fellows, all from Luxembourg, were proudly recognised and welcomed to the Fellowship.

We extend our deep gratitude to everyone whose hard work and commitment made these meetings and dinners so memorable and successful.
